NATIONAL URBAN LIVELIHOOD MISSION (NULM)

The Aahar yojana is an excellent scheme of our state government to help poor people in the city. It is a food subsidization program run by the government of Odisha to provide cheap lunch to urban poor at rupees five per meal scheme. It was inaugurated on April1, 2015 by the chief Minister of Odisha Sj. Navin Patnaik on Utkal Divas the foundation day of the state for providing cooked vegetarian meals at subsidizsed food to urban poor. The state government on april1st opened 21 Aahar centres. The scheme provides meals in five major cities of Odisha, Sambalpur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Rourkela and Berhampur. Food provided under this scheme is Bhata (hot cooked meal of rice), Dalma (a curry of pulses and vegetables), and pickles are served to people at Rs.5/- each a plate. The actual cost of food is around Rs20/-. But is subsidized to Rs. 5 with financial assistance from the Akshaya Patra Foundation.

Hon’ble Chief Minister of Orissa has inaugurated on 1st April 2015 Four Aahaar initiatives in Rourkela i.e. Vedvyas, RGH, Power House Road and New Bus Terminal with a capacity of 4000 nos. of Hot Cooked Meal to be served every day except Sunday.

Again, Two New Aahaar Center has been inaugurated at Sector-2, Bus Stand and Vegetable Market, IGH by Hon’ble Sri G. Bhaskar Rao, Chairman, State Planning Board on Dt. 14.04.2016 in presence of Sri Mangal Kisan, Hon’ble MLA, Rajgangapur, Sri Subrat Tarai, Hon’ble MLA, Raghunathpali, Sri Sarada Pr. Naik, Chairman, RDA and Sri K. Sudarshan Chakrobarthy, ADM, Rourkela.

Facilities :

	Provision for all weather buildings are constructed for six Aahaar Centers in Rourkela.
	Provision for the running water supply with overhead tank is available at all six centers.
	Electricity with adequate light and fans are also available.
	Provision for sanitation including solid waste disposal is taken up by sweepers deployed at each center by Rourkela Municipal Corporation.
	Adequate setting arrangement inside the center is available for the old, women and Childrens
	Elevated table, service counters are also constructed inside all canteens
	Hand wash taps with tiled sink is also available at six centers

Other Facilities :

	For cleaning of utensils six machines are procured and utilized it at different Aahaar Centers.
	Provision of CCTV at six centers.
	Provision of VPN over Internet for online monitoring.
	Ramps for Differently able persons.
	Rodent Catcher/ Insect Electro cutting device are available at four centers.
	Aqua-guard Water.
	Special space for differently able person is also available
