RMC ACHIVEMENT

Office Building: The dream of a new office building with corporate look was contemplated and it is a Red Letter Day for us that Hon'ble Chief Minister has inaugurated the new Building. Requirement of a new building was felt keeping in view of the increasing workload, service centric approach, emphasizing / strengthening Service delivery system, bringing Town Planning/Water supply into the fold of Municipal subject ORTPS Act/RTI Act/Census/NPR. The building has been constructed out of Municipal fund supported with BRGF, 12th Finance & 13th Finance Commission grant fund etc.

Protection of Govt. Land : To make Rourkela free from encroachment, Rourkela Municipal Corporation has taken a historic decision of making a good number of Parks inside the colonial localities out of BRGF/TFC fund which not only adds to the beauty of the town enhancing aesthetic significance but it also envisages protection of Govt. land. Parks of a uniform design has been selected & 106 nos. open spaces has been identified and out of which 92 nos. of Parks have been made in Chhend, Koelnagar, Civil Township, Basanti Nagar and Uditnagar.

Connectivity : Keeping in view of the tourist importance of Hanuman Vatika and inflow of visitors to the town and to get rid of traffic congestion and to make better connectivity the Rourkela Municipal Corporation has developed the Hockey Chowk-Hanuman Vatika road, named after Sj. Harekrishna Mahtab, Ex- Chief Minister, Odisha to 4 lane with ultramodern street lighting provisions. The 2.9 km road have been made four laning out of BRGF fund /TFC and ACA grant fund with shifting of near about 2.0km water pipe lines out of TFC fund with ultra modern Halide lamps. Plantation has also been made with the support of Forest Department. Similarly four laning of Koel Nagar road project which leads to Panchayat Sarniti, Bisra was also completed with drainage facility and modern street lighting provision. Tree plantation on the both side of the said 2.0 km length road has also been made.

Urban Plantation: The Rourkela Municipal Corporation with support of Forest Department, Nationalized Banks/NGOs has tried to fulfill its commitment for compensating plantation as because the Municipal Corporation is fully responsible and accountable to the cutting of the road side trees during the process of road widening and construction of Drains. Around 5000 nos. of plants have been planted during the season 2012-13 & 2013-14 and proper care was also ensured for the growth of Plants.

Launching of ABC Programme: Ever since the allotment of funds of Rs. 15.00 lac to the Rourkela Municipal Corporation has taken it as one of the priority subject in order to have a Rabies free town and to avoid traffic threat from the menace of stray dogs. With support of veterinary and Animal Husbandry Department the Municipal Corporation has constructed 20 nos. of Kennels with Operation Theater for sterilization of stray Dogs. Inside the premises of the Sub-Divisional Veterinary office, Panposh. It has been launched by the District Magistrate & Collector, Sundargarh on Local Self Govt. day on 31.8.2012.

Working Women's Hostel: Rourkela Municipal Corporation has taken the responsible for the working women who come into the town for safe and convenient accommodation and taken up renovation work of the hostel.

Sanitary Toilet (bringing BOT into the city): Keeping in view of the growing population/market yard of the town the need of a public convenience was felt in BOT at Old Taxi Stand, Main Road with Akhil Bharatiya Paryabaran evam Gramin Vikash Sansthan which has been made operated from 20.6.2013.

Vending Zone: At a time when Govt. is thinking for a street Vendor's policy, the Rourkela Municipal Corporation has way in advance been successful in constructing Vending Zones to accommodate the street vendors in order to safeguard their livelihood. Koelnagar Vending zone is a step towards commitment of Rourkela Municipal Corporation.

Madhusudan Bhawan: The Rourkela Municipal Corporation took notice of a building named as Ahuti Bhawan at Chhend which was though constructed out of MP LAD fund was in possession of some people illegally. The building was taken over and being added to the property of the Municipal Corporation. Renovation was made with an eye to make it available to any public-private function and also to earn property tax. Now it is named after the great son of the soil as Madhusudan Bhawan.

Parking Space at MS Marg: Keeping in view of the increasing number of vehicles and to facilitate traffic movement, Rourkela Municipal Corporation has constructed a parking space at MS Marg.

Dwelling Unit for Slum People: 124 nos. of dwelling unit has been successfully completed with funds from IHSDP.

Issue of online Birth & Death Certificates : One of the most important service delivery system has been strengthened after operationalising the delivery of Birth & Death Certificate online under the State sponsored e-municipality programme.

Sending of polythene to the ACC Cement Bargarh : In a commitment made and agreement made with the State Govt. and ACC Cement Bargarh the Rourkela Municipal Corporation is regularly sending truck loads of polythene with an objective to make the town polythene free.

Planned eviction of encroachments : In order to facilitate the process of road widening works keeping in view of the ROW for easy traffic movement, planned eviction of encroachments have been made with the support of Revenue Authorities and Police Administration.
